A LETTER FROM

The Executive Director

The Forest City Film Festival is a showcase for film with connections to the region of Southwestern Ontario. These are films that tell our stories, and without this event many of these movies would not be seen by our community.

In four years we have almost tripled in size, showing more movies, adding three days, a screenwriting competition, three venues, another category, an international screening and Flashback Friday and now a Youth Film Festival. Our audience is growing and it is clear to me why London has embraced us. Our community wants to celebrate the talent of the region. We want to see the stories that touch us, whether local or global, through a regional lens. This festival confirms to us that stories are the compass of a culture, helping share wisdom and understanding of what is good and not so good. Film is the most powerful way that stories can be told. It is the art of our modern world and one of the most important ones because it reaches so many.

We heard many comments from audience members over the first four years about how delighted they are by the quality of films we were able to share with them and the inspiration of rubbing elbows with the filmmakers. The filmmakers were delighted by the opportunity to screen their work to their community and learn and grow from networking with each other and other experts in the field. We are excited to keep growing our audience and provide reasons for London and region to be proud of the talent that comes from within.

Our Logo

Since the beginning, we were certain that we wanted to represent this beautiful city of London in our name and our imagery. Our logo is the London skyline where the skyscrapers are made of film strips adorned with the evergreen Forest City leaf. Over the last 5 years our festival visual branding has been an interpretation around this main logo.
